Episode 65

Ron who has looked for all possible solutions to make sure Tobi is not left roaming the street freely has run to police who he knows are his last solution if not he will be forced to take drastic measures but just like how it has been the officer in charge has made it clear to him that what he wants them to do is very impossible

"Officer what are you saying.... what are you talking about.... something as simple as this case, you're claiming it's a difficult puzzle to solve?... come on cut me some slack"

"Mr Ronald, I thought I had made myself clear so what's there that you still haven't gotten correctly"

"Everything.... officer everything and right now all I need to know is when that bastard is gonna be arrested...he doesn't deserve to roam the street freely...he's supposed to be in jail"

"So since you seem to know the law so much Mr Ronald, what do you suggest we the police should do"

"Good question officer....go out there, do your job and arrest him"

"Are you teaching me my job?" he's furious and stands up as Ron does the same

"I'm not teaching you your job but I'm only reminding you of what you're supposed to do... so do it and it had better be fast"

"Arrest him on what charges exactly remind me please"

"Rape.....rape yes....aggravated rape....keeping the victim against her will.... and what else?.... a lot of things officer...this is your area and you know these things so don't ask me"

"So in this case.....who is the accuser?..... you?....who is the complainant"

"Does that even matter?.... we have evidence, a lot of evidence officer to pin that bastard down"

"OK sit...let's get this clear" they calm and sit

"Ronald to be honest with you,that's not how the law works.... we look into facts and evidence at hand....in this case we have enough evidence like you said but you heard miss Melanie.... she made it clear that there was nothing like rape.... what they had was a mutual agreement between two people who loved themselves so we can't do anything"

"That's crap....don't feed me that crap, I know Melanie... I was with her for a few weeks after the rape...do you know how long it took for her to open up to us? huh....it was after she tested positive for pregnancy and now you sit here and have the guts to tell me to my face that you're going by her word....oooooh officer....you gotta be kidding me"

"If I'm still here trying impatiently to take all this your nonsense Ronald, it's because of my relationship with your father......"

"Stop that....that's nonsense" he gets up and starts to pace up and down "

"There has got to be a way....yes there has to be a way officer" he rushes back to the chair

"Officer...please tell me there has to be a way because I'm loosing it....I'm loosing it..... I'm running mad"

"Calm down Ronald...... yes there is a way" he looks up to the officer with hope written all over his face

"Tell me officer"

"Yes the only way we can get Mr Tobias Akankwasa behind bars is if the alleged victim who made it clear that he never raped her is willing to come to the station and launch a complaint and open up a case of rape against the accused, she's the only one who can decide his fate now....we have enough evidence and we shall be waiting...... if you don't mind, actually you have taken more of my time....I have things to do...please use the door" he points towards the door and so painfully Ron gets up, he drags himself out of there in tears......it took forever for him to get to his car....he's weeping and then remembers his mother's words saying that real men don't allow others to make decisions for them

"I am a big fool.....I have been a fool all along" he gets into the car and by now his shirt is all shocked, he remembers Perry's words and the fact that he hurt her a lot when all she ever wanted was his happiness

"My sister.... my only sister, loosing you too is as painful as loosing Melanie is....I don't know if I'm ever going to recover from this pain but one thing for sure....I'm not going back to the man you wanted me to be....." he gets out his phone and looks longingly at the screen

"Should I call you..... will you really pick up"...........

After everyone is gone.... Melanie is left with her family, but her mother and aunty are in the garden with the maid and Mira who has been brought home by Mac, they wanted to keep her in the garden for a Long time because the little girl might accidentally catch the drama that too place earlier today on TV..... Tobi is seated in bed and trying to respond to a few messages out of the many he received about what happened...... Mel carries the tray with his juice on it and slowly opens.....the door

" Hello sweetheart "

"Careful with that..... everything is gonna pour down"

"Don't worry.... I'm an expert in this.... I'm a woman you know" she puts the tray down on the bed

"I brought something nourishing for my husband"

"Thank you....can you tag up here besides me"

"Right away my Darling" Mel climbs to bed next to her husband just the way he wanted.....he looks at her critically and thinks she looks different but he doesn't say it, he just continues to stare and Mel becomes so uncomfortable

"What's it....why are you looking at me like I'm suddenly a stranger to you"

"Because everyday with you my Darling is very different and very important.....but above all, you continue to grow more beautiful by the day"

"Oooooh....I'm fluttered sweetheart.... just like my giant killer husband" he stares at her again

"Is there something I need to know"

"Something like?

" I don't know....the last time I checked my wife was dark skinned"

"Chocolate my Darling..... chocolate not dark skinned"

"What ever, that's not important now" he pushes the PC aside and faces her as he touches her face, she shivers, she just loves his touches too much

"Don't you think it's now time we finalised this already Babe" he asks and looks serious this time

"Finalize what exactly"

"This relationship... let's upgrade it, I want to give you your proper place in this house and in my life.... I don't care if it's in court or in church but I just want our beautiful relationship be put to record so our children and great great grands can get to know it even when we're long gone........I'm tired of being only your boyfriend" she stares at him

"Well you don't convince me Mr Tobias Akankwasa"

"Convince you how?

" Yeah let's be honest darling"

"You didn't say that possibly right"

"Is it too much if I ask my man to be a little romantic"

"Hahahaha....you should have said so Right away"

"Well you're a man.... I shouldn't be teaching you these things"

"OK OK.... but for the case of today, let's just say I'm planning something romantic for my wife so what does she say" she couldn't answer as Ron's call comes through to her

"Now what does this one want again"

"Pick it..." Tobi says

"Whaaat...."

"Yeah I also want to hear what he has to say" reluctantly she picks the call

Ronald what is it now....what do you want"

"Mel Thank God you picked..... I have something important to discuss with you"

"Well I'm not interested"

"It's about your husband... please Listen"

"I bet you're going to say you also know another of his rape victim right"

" Will you just let me talk?... shut up" for a moment there is silence and then he speaks

"I'm so sorry I screamed but listen.... I have been speaking to a lot of people, now I'm convinced that guy you call your husband has been keeping you in his house against your will....he's evil and I know you're suffering my love, sneak, come meet me up and we can go to police together" Mel listens and listens as he goes on and on without stopping and then she looses it

"Stop it..... stop it you psycho....you lunatic my God! how did I not realise you're a sick man Ronald.... you're sick and you need help"

"Listen carefully Melanie... just because I'm in love with you and acting this way doesn't give you the right to insult me"

"No no no....if anything disgusts me, it's when you always say you love me....I hate it and I hate it so much because you're not alright in the head... what you feel for me isn't love....you're just obsessed"

"What is it then...."

"You're just a spoilt little rich kid who thinks he can have it all...that's not love because love is all about making sacrifices, you build up love, you nurture it and guard it until when it flourishes..... unless it dies one can't give up love no matter what...and that's exactly what happened to us....our love died and I found a new, much better love" Ron bursts out in tears, she can hear him cry

"That day, I went to pick you up from school but what did you do..."

"That's all in the past and I don't wish to talk about it, I had never imagined my life forever with another man besides me other than you until when you slapped me in my face with the harsh reality that we were nothing, and we had no future"

"I have given you my all, I wanted to know your stand about this as it is of now but I have realised that you still stand your ground... well then, don't blame me for my next action.... if I can't have you, no one else will ever have you, mark my words"

"Is that a threat?" the call line went dead and a very shocked Mel looks at Tobi

"It's alright.... but I think it's time you blocked his number.....come here, don't think about it too much" he hugs her trying to calm her down, their happy moment ruined already..............

Ronald drives home finally at around ten in the night, everyone has been anxiously waiting for his return apart from his Father..... especially his mother who immediately gets up to go hug him the moment he walked in, even though Perry hasn't forgiven him, she was worried too but deep down in her heart, she was happy for what Mel did...she walks over to her brother and hug him too

"Ron.... thank God nothing happened to you" he doesn't say anything and Perry climbs up to her room

"Can I speak with you son" his mother asks and he says fine....they walk out to the only place they trust that they are safe in

"Son I want to start by saying I'm so sorry for what I did earlier....I'm so sorry" he looks at his mother and her words still echoes in his head but he fakes him being OK

"It's alright mum....don't worry yourself, I forgive you"

"Thank you son....you're truly my son.... tell me where have you been I was so worried"

"I needed to sort out some things that's all" Lillian keeps quiet not knowing what to say next but she clears her throat

"I know this may sound inappropriate but we should discuss this....now that our initial plan failed, what do we do"

"Good question Mum... what do we do?....very simple" he comes near her

"We shed blood"

"Jesus..." she jumps away

"Oh come on........don't act like mother Teresa with me, it doesn't suit you.......you heard me, it's what we have got to do....and we should do it pretty soon" she keeps quiet

"Aren't you going to ask me whose blood we should shed......well it's the people who are in our way"

"Sorry Ronald.... you can't possibly think of something this stupid and you can't possibly expect me to be part of something this dangerous and evil.....I can't do that"

"Oh yes I can mother....and yes, you too can, I mean you have all the qualities needed and you don't need no lectures....you're wicked, mean and evil...what a perfect person to be in charge of this new business and this department..... you Will do it whether you like it or yes"

"And what if I don't"

"Oh poor Mama... don't try me, don't try me...... there is always a way to get what one want, this I learnt from you and this applies to your case too......so remember, we do it my way and any slight mistake, you will pay for it big time and right now if you still insist that you don't want to be part of it...well I won't force you, I'm a gentleman but we shall walk to my father right now, right this minute and I tell him Perry, his little adoration is really not his daughter..... so what do you say?" Lillian wants to faint but holds onto the flower tree catching her heart to control the beating and her breathing

"Where did you hear this nonsense from"

"I'm your son remember" he walks away only to return and get into her face

"This is called an eye for an eye....don't even act smart but start using your head like you always do to get for me the right people as the in charge of this operation.....I'm waiting and remember we have limited time".... he walks away and Lilian didn't even realise it when she falls to the ground breathing heavily.

Episode 66

Melanie was coming from meeting someone who has been recommended to her so he can help plan their wedding, since Tobi's proposal two days ago, she has really not said yes to him yet but she secretly asked Jane to help her set a meeting with the person who planned her wedding, she drives over there and lied to her husband saying she was meeting up with Jane, Tobi actually was happy because this will give him to plan what he's planning.........

Mel's meeting with the young man delayed a little because he didn't keep time but the meeting went on so well, it's now coming to 8pm as she heads beck home .....she's again caught up in traffic...........

Tobi has been impatiently waiting for Melanie for far too long, the time she was supposed to be back has elapsed yet no sign of her.....everything is set for his surprise so he decides to give her a call

"Hello Hun"

"Babe....where are you, why are you not here yet"

"Caught up in traffic but not to worry I will soon be home"

"Hurry up.....I'm waiting for you" she's curious

"You sound so strange what are you planning this time around"

"Nothing........ I just miss my wife that's all"

"See you in a while"

"Love you..." they hung up and Mel can feel Tobi is up to something but she just can't figure it out, she continues her drive home and it wasn't long before she arrived......but the gate man is no where to be seen, she waits and waits till she couldn't anymore

"Where has he gone..." she comes down and pushes the small gate, it's open and she enters....she opens the gate so wide and comes out again to drive her car in, she packs and comes back to close.......she picks her stuffs and head inside.... again she met by emptiness, the house is unusually quiet, no one insight, no voices, and above all total darkness

"This is strange..." she says and gets out her phone, she wants to call their maid but she fears in the darkness.....Mel is confused, she decides to give Tobi a call and his number isn't going through

Whaaaat!....what's going on in here....where are all of you " she dials her mum and it's the same story..... she switches the light on her phone and looks around but nothing looks suspicious but she can't understand the darkness, she switches off the phone light decides to take off her shoes.......she tiptoes up stairs....this darkness scares the daylight out of her, she reaches her door and holds on to the door knob and holds her breath tightly and pushes the door open and suddenly the lights came back but the sight she met made her to drop her bag and phone down....she takes another step and another...... all around the room is decorated with balloons flying in the air with words written on them, words she can't read yet....her mother, aunty, the maid and the gateman all standing in different spots with notes in hand written 'I love you Melanie' she wants to scream but she covers her mouth with her hands...she looks at the centre of the room and it's her cute little Mira kneeling on one knee in a circle of white and red roses...she's holding a love note in an open box that also has a beautiful diamond ring......she comes to her and picks up the note from the box and reads out loud

"Melanie my love, I don't want to be your boyfriend any longer..... make me a complete man and say yes!!.... will you marry me?' she steps back and looks at the note, she looks at Mira and Everyone in the room....no Tobi in sight but no one is looking at her....they are all looking down at their notes in hands

" Say yes already Mum.... my knee hurts" Mira said and this forces everyone to laugh

"This wasn't part of the deal Mira" Ofelia says, Tobi who looks extremely handsome tonight comes out from the bathroom...... and walks over to where Mel and Mira are

"So what do you say Babe..." he grabs her waist and pulls her to himself

"Slowly... we're not the only ones here" she whispers the rest of the people excuse themselves with Ofelia taking Mira's hand, they leave the room.........

"Tell me that was not romantic enough.." he teases her

"At what length are you going willing to go Tobi"

"What length I can't tell but as far as it brings smile on your beautiful face" he kisses her

"I love you Tobi"

"Not as much as I love you my wife... so yes yes already because I'm running out of Patience"

"Ooh! don't be like Mira"

"Such a drama queen..." they laugh

"So what do you think my answer is gonna be"

"I don't know.... you tell me" she touches his cheeks and rubs her nose on his

"Couples who stay together slay together" so yes my Darling.... I'll marry you...yes yes" hugs...

A week has passed since Mel agreed to marry Tobi officially... she has asked him to leave the planning to her and Jane because one thing for sure is, she doesn't want a lavish wedding... they continue to work as she does the planning too.....she has completely forgotten about Ronald's threats and puts all her energy in organising her wedding and today is a Friday, Tobi had left the office so Early to go take care of something important and promised to come pick her up later in the evening..... Janet the receptionist is everywhere Mel is today, Mel thinks this is strange because they don't get on well....she thinks it's strange but she ignores it....it's coming to six when Tobi calls her

"Hello sweat heart.... I have been waiting for your call...what took you so long"

"I will explain everything to you when we get home but I'm still busy, I'm sending someone to pick you up with the car...." Mel doesn't like this but she agrees......Janet has been spying on her conversation but she didn't hear correctly..... she walks to a corridor and gives a call to someone

"Hello...get Ready, he's on the way" she drops the call and looks left and right, she walks back to go collect her stuffs and leave to go home........

"Get going.... I don't want mistakes..... no one Is to hurt her, no one should touch her but as for the man, shoot him the moment his car pulls up.... grab the woman and take her to where I ordered you to "

"No need to worry boss....we know how to do it, this is our area"

"Good but one more thing, make it seem like a robbery because you can't leave the crime scene with nothing in hand...collect everything you get in that car got it"

"Yes yes....."

"Get going... I will be waiting for you" ...........

Melanie comes out of the office and waits for the man who's to come pick her up.....she waits for about ten more minutes when he gets there and she walks to the car, she realises he's someone she doesn't even know

"Hello...good evening" she greets him

"Evening Madam....I believe I'm talking to Melanie"

"Sure you're.... my husband has already told me about your coming"

"Alright.....my name is Mugisha......your husband is caught up in a meeting, it's going to take a while"

"I don't mind....let's go then" she enters and sits at the back, he drives out and they instantly click, he tells her how much he had wanted to meet her because her husband talks a lot about her....they continue to chat until when they reach the most isolated part of the road, they see someone has packed a car in the middle of the road but there is no one insight......Mugisha reduces the speed and Mel notices this

"What's wrong"

"I think someone's car has developed some mechanical problem"

"Here in the middle of no where?"

"Yeah.... let's find out what is is, maybe we can get him or her help ahead of us"

"Have you seen anyone insight"

"Nope........let's find out" he pulls the car and before he can even do anything..... a shot is fired straight at him with the bullet hitting his right arm...he throws himself down and more shots are fired in the car...A very scared and shocked Mel screams her lungs out and someone kicks her door open, she takes cover and tries to hide herself....a man she doesn't even know grabs her by hair and pulls her out, she's screaming and kicking the air....

"Let me go.....let me go, leave me alone" they try to restrain her but fail to because she's getting so wild and unruly.... one of the men gives her one blow in the head and she falls down on her tummy rolling in pain but she goes cold after a few seconds

"What did you just do...." one of the men asks

"She needed this"

"You have broken the rule.... we were not supposed to touch her....I pray boss doesn't get mad at us for this"

"Stop talking... get her in the car already....she's gonna wake up before we reach there" they carry Mel to the waiting car........they come to the driver's side and he looks breathless, his blood is all over in the car

"Let's get out of here....quickly"

"Are you sure he's the one....I mean her husband"

"Who else would be driving her if not him....remember the call came directly from their office.....let's go before someone gets here.... this is a busy road" they hope in to their car and drive off with a passed out Melanie inside leaving Mugisha in a pool of his own blood.......
