BROKEN AND BRUISED

Episode 67

The nearby people who heard gunshots rush over to the scene only to find a young man lying in his own pool of blood and he looked like he was dead, people gather around the car and just look at the unfamiliar man lying face down in the car, they don't know where exactly on his body he was shot but the blood is truly much

"Who could have done this to a very young man like this.....people are really wicked" they murmured among themselves and they had already given a call to the police informing them of what happened... though most of them think it could be robbery gone wrong

"Maybe the young man fought back and they decided to end his life" one of them says

"At this early hour....this is so unusual" one man among them silently watches the young man and he thinks he had seen him make a move, the man takes some steps forward, he's about to touch him when the others scream at him

"Don't touch him or else you will be the first suspect to be arrested" he ignores them and continues to look at him...then he's sure he moved, he takes his arm and feels his pulse

"He's alive....he's breathing.... I can feel it, he's not dead yet please help me....he should be quickly taken to the hospital because he has lost a lot of blood" they all join forces and as they try to figure out a way of getting him to the hospital when the police arrive.... they quickly load him into the ambulance and he's taken to the hospital where he's taken to the operating room right away... no one knows who he is and where he is from........

Ronald is seated somewhere isolated sipping his favourite whiskey, he has been anxious for sometime now and his girlfriend Becky today has found a good spot to spy on him to know what he's planning..... He's constantly checking his phone and watch

"Could he be having appointment with that woman Melanie" she wonders.........

The goons drive with a passed out Melanie to where they were ordered to take her to....it was a long drive that took them thirty minutes, they get Mel out and put her to bed where they chain her up properly.... the leader then give Ron a call

"Boss....we are done, just the way you wanted, the young man is no more and the damsel is right here" he's excited

"Are you sure.....hope everything went as planned and no one saw you"

"Don't worry, we did just that....we have all their belongings and I'm keeping them right here"

"I'm so glad I didn't make a mistake in choosing you people.... now I want you to leave that place right this moment.... I'm already on my way and we shall arrange our next meeting when the dust settles" he ends the call and smiles to himself

"Oooh Tobi RIP.....till we meet again" he laughs out loud and pours the whole content of the whisky from the glass in his mouth, he staggers to the car whistling and feeling so happy, he drives out of the compound and Becky comes out of her hiding place, she didn't hear what exactly he was speaking on phone but she's not going to give up, she will find out whether what...........

Ofelia has been alone in the living room watching TV when the news that's now trending the internet is broadcasted live.....in the broadcast, it's not clear if the man she who was shot is Tobi or not and if he survived or not because there was too much blood yet no one knows where the person is, police have remained tongue tied about the issue..... Ofelia is going crazy on learning the news, she knows this is not going to be fine....if it was Tobi in the car, then Mel must have been there too but what happened to her and where is she is one thing she has failed to understand..... she panics thinking the worst and gives a call to Mel who is not even picking up her calls....she's more scared now......

Tobi is finished with his meeting and only waiting for Mugisha to bring him the car so he can go home, he checks his watch and realises it's getting late and by now he should have been here already, he wonders if Mel had asked him to say for coffee or tea...... his friend with whom he had the meeting who also happens to be Mugisha's boss comes to her and they decide to wait longer.....soon his mother in-law's came through

"They must still be home by now..... my mother in-law is calling" he picks up

"Mum..."

"Tobi is that you.....is that really you, thank God" he's confused

"What's going on...."

"Tell me where my daughter is....where is Mel, is she with you" he senses something is wrong somewhere

"What happened.... is everything at home alright"

"I just saw a news....a young man who was driving your car was shot dead"

"Whaaaat....." he says this but he's already on his feet

"How is Melanie" he asks

"I don't know..... where was she"

"He was taking Her home in my car" Ofelia drops the phone and lands down on the hard floor hitting her head but she feels no pain, she can not even cry..........

Tobi abandons his talk with his friend and runs to the packing lot with the man following

"What happened...."

"Mugisha and Mel were attacked.....I'm going"

"Wait....you don't even have a car, let's go together" they hope in and drive at a terrific speed and soon they get to the hospital and he runs after one police man the moment he got down

"Officer where is my wife....where is Melanie" he's becoming so unruly

Calm down but I need you to answer for mow a few questions" he has no choice but listens with the Little Patience left in him

"What did you say you were when this happened, remember he was driving in your car"

"I was in a meeting which took a lot of my time, I had left Mel in the office and yet I had no time to go pick her up , Mugisha decided to help me drop her home from the office and that was the last I saw him and I last spoke with my wife when I called to tell her that someone else was going to pick her up.... tell me officer where is Melanie"

"Unfortunately sir your wife is missing"

"What do you mean that my wife is missing, you can't be serious.... she was supposed to be with him together in that car"

"But there is no way we can prove your wife was in the car with him or not....no one saw her at the scene.....non of her things was found in the car and no one knows if this was a n attempt on someone's life or if it's robbery gone wrong.... I'm beginning to think those shots were meant for you....is there someone in mind" he quickly thinks of Ron but doesn't say it instead he can't hold his tears any longer and bursts out crying his eyes out, he's defeated and doesn't know where to even start looking for her from and soon Mac arrives to give him company and to take him home.....at home there Ofelia is inconsolable and Jessy tries her best to assure her Mel is going to be fine even when she doesn't believe that herself too, Mira has been kept in the dark too.....the two gentlemen enter and Ofelia runs to Tobi and lands on his chest

"Tell me you have found her please my son" her tears are not helping him at all and they both burst out....for some reasons even Tobi himself can not understand why he feels Mel is going to come back well and untouched.....they all sit down to find out where possible she could be at and what to do

"This is a crazy idea but if you ask me....I would say it's Ronald who has kidnapped Mel and they just tried to kill Mugisha accidentally, they might have thought you would be the one driving.....he wanted to get you out of the picture and have Mel" Jessy says and Everyone thinks she's right

"I didn't say this to the police but me too, I think he has a hand in this and he's the one keeping Mel..... I just hope I figure out a way soon.....Ron should even think about hurting her" Tobi says and Mac is more concerned about the baby

"Her baby....she risks loosing it"

"What baby are you talking about" Tobi asks and Mac realises he didn't know

"I was only kidding" he tries to cover up but Tobi is furious

"Mel is pregnant with my child and I didn't know" he sounds a bit sarcastic and Mac sees through

"I'm so sorry Tobi..this is not the best time and place for this but....... I thought by now she would have told you, I only got to know about it and Mel asked me not to tell you.....
she wasn't sure she wanted to be with you any more"

"And you foolishly agreed"

"Yes.... it was at a time Mel discovered your lies...when you two had a misunderstanding and she wanted nothing to do with you....I found out that time.....you gave me a call to come treat her....she didn't want you to know" Tobi is furious

"I pray nothing happens to my child.... I pray he doesn't hurt them because I would die"

"Ron would never hurt Mel.... he would instead kill anybody who comes in his way to achieve that so be careful Tobi and let someone else help you fight this war because he's not going to spare your life".......

Melanie wakes up slowly opening her eyes, her body aches terribly all over.... she wants to sit up but she realises she's been chained to the bed.... sharply she opens her eyes wider as the reality of her situation hits her, she's not in her room

" Where is Mugisha... where is he" she wonders and looks left to right yet she's all alone in the big room, she searches every corner of the room with her eyes but she can't figure out where she is....

"Where am I..." she wonders and suddenly she starts to hears gunshots in her head, she wants to hold her head but she can't do it, she's having a pounding headache as she remembers how shots were fried in the car and when a man she doesn't even know hit her head and she falls face Rolling on her Tummy.....it's clear she has been kidnapped.... she having a panic attack and continues to tell herself to calm down, she feels wet down there and wants to reach down to feel it but her hands are chained

"My baby?...." she trembles

"This can't be....I can't loose you, no no no" she finally screams at the top of her Voice and the scream attracts the attention of Ron who has been on phone trying to find out whether it was indeed Tobi who was shot but he got to hear the worst news of his life when he's told it's likely to be not true...he drops the call and runs to Mel and the moment he opens the door and their eyes meet, he smiles and Mel frowns knowing fully well he was the brain behind what happened and she hates him....

Episode 68

Tobi has been acting Strong all because of the people around him but now it doesn't seem to be working anymore, he's not just going to sit down and wait when he has no idea where his wife is, he paces up and down urging his brain to think and work

"Calm down Tobi.... Mel is fine that I'm so sure of"

"How can I....she's my wife we are talking about her Mac.... my wife and she's in the hands of that man"

"But we have no proof he's the one and if he was the one behind this, I know he will never hurt her....hr loves her"

"Why did I send that innocent man to go take those bullets meant for me.....why.....why can't Ronald be a man for once and call me, and tell me what he wants once and for all"

"Of course if that's what you want, he shall call you......because I'm sure he wants only two things, one to take Melanie and second is to take your life.......don't rush, let's figure out a way but not like this.... I'm with you".........

" I can see someone is awake now" Ron says to Mel.... her eyes narrow in pain and she tries to talk to him

"We have to talk sweet heart..... a long healthy heart to heart talk.....tell me who was that man with you in that car"

"Ronald please.... please help me, help free my hands" he stares coldly at her and couldn't care less what she said

"Was it your husband.....
answer me who was he" she doesn't find the strength to answer all that .....it's like her life is slipping out of her body, she begins to see things in double, she's looking at Ron but she sees two people......she opens her mouth but that's it, she doesn't know what happened after.....Ronald thinks she's acting up

"You pretender, you can't easily fool me....I'm not that little husband of yours got it....you better open those eyes and we get done with this.......he doesn't get a response from her and sees the white sheets soaked in blood , he panics and jumps to her side

" Melanie.... Mel wake up, get up.....what's happened to you" he shakes her but she's not responding..... he picks up his phone and dials a number

"Please get here soon....right now, no one should see you.....I have a case of emergency" he throws the phone away and lies next to Mel, as he weeps and caresses her hair

"I want to hate you Melanie.... but I can't, I can't hate you, because I love you more than my own life....you have to wake up and be alright, soon the doctor will be here and you shall be fine my love....you shall be fine" he gets up and paces up and down

"I have arranged everything and soon we're leaving this wretched life after getting married" he continues to pace and come out to check if the doctor has arrived or not......the place being far, it took the doctor another one hour to get there.....Ron is asked to wait outside as he does his work and he did, it took the doctor a few minutes and then he comes out to meet Ron drinking in the living room

"How is she...."

"She's not doing fine but there is a problem"

"What problem..."

"Who is that woman,.... I mean where did you get her from"

"Not your job to know..... just do all that you're supposed to do, I want her awake and healthy"

"She needs to be taken to the hospital fast enough, she's loosing her baby" Ron smashes the glass on the wall

"What baby are you talking about"

"She's pregnant and if she remains here.....it's going to be very dangerous" he walks to the doctor

"It's good that you're here because you're going to do exactly as I say" the doctor sees the danger in his eyes and hears in his it in his tone

"You're going to flash that bastard out right here right now"

"I can't possibly do that"

"Oh yes you can and you will so get moving..... get moving, that bastard that thing she's carrying should not survive got that" the doctor grabs his bag

"I'm sorry, you contacted the wrong person" he starts to to walk out but reaching the door, he feels something cold on the back of his head.......he turns slowly and his face is met with a gun and Ron looks at him in the eyes"

"It's either your life or the life of that bastard and whatever you choose will determine your fate today" the doctor drops the bag and raises his hands up

"Please calm down Ronald.... it hasn't gotten to this"

"Then move it....get going and start doing your job now" they walk back to the room with Ron holding the gun to his head as he does the job and explaining every procedure to him..........

Two days later

Melanie has been under the care of the doctor who was forced to stay at gunpoint...she's now awake and the whole thing is beginning to take a toll on her especially after Ron comes to the room with two bad news, she has been crying all through out and it feels as if her skin on her back and buttocks is about to pill off, she's in too much pain and she doesn't know if her baby is still intact or not.....she doesn't see the light and doesn't even know if it's day or night... she sees the door open and instantly knows it's Ronald

"Darling you're awake" he smiles and this brings more tears

"What happened to me.....where am I"

"You're just where you're supposed to be my love....you see it has been two days already and I have been taking real good care of you" he comes and caresses her face and she takes her face away

"Let me go....I'm hurting" he looks at her with no emotion or whatsoever and she remembers the last time she was awake, she was bleeding

"My baby....what happened to my baby" she's panicking

"Calm down...there is no baby is there.... that thing" he points to her Tummy

"It was all flashed out....all out"

"No....no this can't be true"

"Oh yes baby it's true.....I can't let you have the baby of that man...never" he hits the hard wood and Mel gets scared

"Please Ronald.... I beg of you, I will do all that you want me to but please let me see Tobi.... let me see my husband"

"Which Tobi... the same one who has been creating havoc everywhere.... he took police to my home yesterday to go and disturb the peace of my parents oh the nerve of that man.....I should have killed him....I'm going to kill him"

"No no no.....you can't kill my husband" he gets mad

"He's not your husband.... he can never be because I will not let you Marry him....I'm going to kill him the same way I killed that bastard you were carrying" Mel weeps and Ron weeps too, both of them are weeping and it's getting uglier because he ends up hitting her in the face when she said she loves Tobi........ Ron realises he went too far and falls down on his knees

"Forgive me my love....please Forgive me, it is me you love....only me....please say you love me" Mel is soaked in tears and screams at him to not touch her....he composes himself and walks over to the drawer where he gets out a gun and brushes it on her face

"I'm going to untie you but any wrong move you make here....I will shoot you and shoot myself" he points at the doctor he has tied up somewhere in the corner

"You see him....that's what happens to people who want to act smart....get up, you're going to clean up and a priest is on his way here...we're getting married tight here today" Mel's eyes bulge out but she knows better to keep quiet, Ron unties her and orders her to sit down which she does, he gets out her phone and kneels down

"Since your useless rapist husband will not let me be....we are going to call him right now and you tell him you're alright, in fact you will say all that is on this paper" he throws the paper in her face and dials Tobi.............

Two days have passed ever since Mel disappeared, Tobi has done all that he could think of but things prove to be more and more difficult..... the police are not doing enough to help the situation, Ron's parents have no idea where their son is, enough adverts have run in all the local TV stations with Ron's picture but nothing yet, he has cried and cried but it's not helping, he has called Mel's number but it's not going through, he has tried Ron's and it's the same Story.......he doesn't even remember the last thing he ate because all he eats is his own tears, he's only consoled by the fact that as long as Mel's body is not found, she's still alive..... today she went to the police to try find out how far they have gone with their investigation but there is nothing new....he retired home and just sits wasted....suddenly his phone begins to ring,he picks it up and looks at the screen and it's Mel

"Honey.....what happened, where are you tell me and I'm coming for you right now"

"Stop looking for me Tobi.... what's wrong with you" Tobi is lost

"Babe.....is that you"

"I'm not your Babe and stop embarrassing yourself in front of everyone because I'm not coming back to you"

"Is someone threatening you" he asks and Mel screams at him

"Your bastard.... you raped me and you thought I would just forgive you like that...well I pretended all this while, I hate you....I hate you so much because you have no idea how much hurting Ron all this while made me feel.....I wanted to take you to church and give you the embarrassment of your life there but I couldn't stand your touches anymore.... you should stop looking for me because you will never find me....I'm gone and gone for good....I have left your daughter with you and stop looking for me" she drops the call and Tobi who has stood up suddenly falls down in shock...... he wants to cry but tears fail to come out, he looks at his phone and dials her number again.......Mel drops down on her knees and Ron grabs the phone from her hands, he smashes it on the wall....Tobi is dialing and the number is unreachable...... Mira runs towards him

"Daddy.....has Mummy called" they had told the poor girl that her mother had travelled.... he looks at Mira and hugs her tightly squeezing the life out of her as he weeps silently........

"Hahahaha good job Melanie... good job" he touches her face but she doesn't want him to

"I hate you.......I hate you so much Ronald.... you will rote in hell, I swear you bastard" Mel hauls insult and Ron continues to laugh

"I hate you..... I hate you so much"

"Why because you love that rapist"

"He's my husband you fool" he gets to her face as he removes his belt

"You know what since it takes rapping you for you to love someone....that's exactly what we're going to do" she opens her eyes in shock......
