The couple Rani and Sankalp Parihar in Jabalpur city, Madhya Pradesh state, India planted 2 mango trees of a rare variant. They thought it would grow naturally like other trees in their garden. But after fructification, these trees have some mangoes with abnormal ruby color.
After searching, it turns out to be mango tree belongs to the Miyazaki variant rooting from Japan. It’s also the most expensive mango variant in the world. A pair of Miyazaki mangoes cost 500,000 yen. Moreover, this mango is also known as the Sun’s egg due to its shiny red skin.
Parihar said someone broke into his garden and stole their mangoes to eat last year. Therefore, they had to hire 4 guards and 6 dogs to protect these rare trees with 7 mangoes.
It was a chance when Parihar got the young Miyazaki mango trees. He was on the road to Chennai to buy some young trees to plant. He met a strange man on the train and was gifted these trees. Parihar said that the strange man gifted him these trees and asked him to take care of them like his children.
Then, Parihar and his wife planted these trees in their garden without knowing the variant of them. Then the first series of mangoes appeared last year, Parihar realized it was a rare variant because they look very different. He didn’t know the variant of these fruits, so he named it after his mother – Damini.
Rani said that many fruit lovers and mango planters contacted them. A businessman even paid 21.000 Rupee for mango fruit grown by the couple. But they announced that they wouldn’t sell mangoes. They planned to grow more mango trees from their fruits.
