A group of young Filipino game addicts went viral in international newspapers. They ignored the risk of getting the electric shock in a flooded cybercafe to play their favorite game. After the Ying-fa storm, the cafe was flooded seriously. The water reached an adult’s knee.
In the video, most game addicts in that flooded cafe in Cainta town, Rizalwere, the Philippines were teenagers and kids. Water even reached some kids’ thighs. Therefore, the risk of electric shock in this cafe is surely very high. But these game addicts are still immersed in the game world.
The cyber cafe owner didn’t unplug the computers until he realized the risk of the electric shock. Finally, these gamers left safely. Sio Samson, the owner of the cafe said he didn’t know that the flood would occur that day. When he realized the danger, Sio immediately stopped those customers.
He told the gamers that they need to move the computers to a higher place because of the flood. Before that, these young gamers still sat in the water, soak their legs in the flood, or squatted on the chairs. If there was an electric leak, the consequence would have been heartbroken.
Luckily, all the electrical outlets are placed high on the wall. As a computer engineer, the cafe owner calculated the risk of flood season in their hometown. He also knows the risk of electric shock in a wet environment. He said that those young gamers didn’t want to leave. But he unplugged the computer to force them to leave.
