A 74-year-old has become a fitness role model for many after she showcased her fit figure on Instagram.
She is the fitspiration you need
When she was 70, Joan MacDonald was overweight and had a number of health issues originating from her unhealthy lifestyle.
Not like others who always preach about keep fit but actually never done anything, MacDonald started the process right away and it changed her life completely.
The wellness guru began altering her lifestyle by changing her eating routine, with the help of Michelle. Instead of eating fatty foods and relaxing, she chose cardio and then enhanced to strength training.
Weight lifting was relatively hard for her but she did not give up. She also changed her diet and limit her daily calories to 1000 (which later changed to 1750).
Joan found it extremely challenging as she was a sweet tooth and a sucker for junk food. She said,
“I USED TO LOVE CHOCOLATE-COVERED NUTS AND SUGARY FOODS. BUT THEY WERE STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED.”
A big change
One year after she started the fitness journey, she managed to wear off more than 20kg. She not only dropped many pant sizes but also some blood pressure which surprised her doctor. Soon, she did not need medication anymore and is always full of energy.
4 years later, Joan now has the same weight as her daughter. She also set up a successful Instagram account that has 1.4 million followers who love to obtain free health and fitness advice.
