“Stand by me”
I had just been kicked out from my house, my comfort zone, the only home I have ever known. I have no place to go, no friends, no families to turn to, except for one of my friend kola who has always been my pillar.
My names are Rita Johnson, I’m the only child of my parents, my mum died when I was just seven while my dad died when I was twenty two (22)years old. Life hasn’t been easy for me, I have survival on my own on the street hawking all sort of things to make hands meet. But selling my body for money was total out of the way.
How did I even meet my best friend kola? Hmmm now I remember (like I can forget, lolz) it was one evening, the day was bad, I didn’t make sales, I was angry and almost course God but tried to hold my tongue. I was still in my thought when a young guy in his early 20s (I guess) knocked me down with his car. I was so angry I quickly got up to check myself if I have any bruises on me but lucky there was non, so I furiously went to his car to lash my anger on him, but to my surprise he was just in his car, face down, he wasn’t moving so I panic, I called for help and a gentle man helped me to drive him to a near by hospital. We got to the hospital and the quickly admitted him and started to treat him.
Around 6:20pm some people came in smelling nice, and looking fresh but the looks on their face showed they were not happy. The woman started to shout “can somebody please tell me, my son is going to be ok”?
Another man held her tight that should be her husband and console her “my dear calm down kola, will be fine”.
Few minutes later the doctor came out and just walked pass me as if he didn’t see me. He went straight to those people.
Welcome Mr and Mrs owolabi, please follow me to my office.
Please doc, whatever it is just say it here.
He sign before he started to talk to them I didn’t hear the clearly. Some minutes later he walked pass me again so I held his hand.
Sir, how’s the man I brought.
The look on the doctor’s face show that he was confuse.
I don’t understand you miss, which young man are you talking about?
I was shocked, what does he mean by the “young man you brought”
You don’t understand me, the boy who was involve in an accident that I brought not long ago who was wearing a blue pencil jeans, and a red shirt you don’t know him?
Then I saw him smiled (what’s funny)
You are really a handful girl, I remember now. TBCFebruary 25, 2019 at 6:54 am #1293780ValentineAdmin

“Stand by me”
Continue from the last scene
So where is he and how’s he doing now?
The people over there? (he said point to the woman was crying earlier) those are his parents and I have already told them what they need to know miss.
What nonsense, I wonder how they treat we the poor in this country. So because I’m a nobody I have no right to know how the person I saved is doing?
So you are saying in one word is that you can’t tell me anything about the man?
He nodded yes so I turned my back and started going home. I was about to open the door when a nurse came running like the whole hospital was on fire. I came back I don’t know why but I was worried I thought maybe something bad has happen to the guy I brought.
Doctor, doctor the man is awake and his asking after the girl he knocked down. I made a sign of the cross and turn to leave since the man was already awake. The doctor stopped me and ask me to go and see the guy but I turn him down,
I asked about his condition and you told me I have no right to know and now you want me to go and see him? I know my right sir.
I’m sorry, I don’t have a reason but just forgive me.
I sign and follow him to the ward the guy is. When we got in, immediately he saw me, his eyes was filled with tears. He asked the doctor to excuse us and he did.
I’m so sorry, I’m sorry I hit you with my car, I couldn’t live with myself if anything had happened to you. (his tears dropped more) please forgive me.
Is ok, I’m fine so no need for this tears and apologies.
He asked me to come and sit beside him on the bed, I did and he held my hands, I wasn’t comfortable at first but I just did it because I didn’t want to hurt him.
Please forgive me. What’s your name (still in tears)
I’m Rita Johnson.
I’m kola owolabi.
Yes I know, I met your parents outside.
I wanted to see you first and ask for your forgiveness.
But if I may asked, what happened, I mean what were you thinking when driving. Immediately I asked that question his eyes went red, like I had said something wrong, he was silent for sometime then I got up from his side.
I’m sorry if I asked the wrong question, now that you are ok, I should start going. I was about leaving when he held my hands and said “please sit I will tell you everything” I sat down beside him again.
Two weeks ago was my birthday, I didn’t want to celebrate it but my family insisted I so I did. TBCFebruary 25, 2019 at 7:17 am #1293784February 25, 2019 at 7:18 am #1293785
