I can’t imagine even at this point in my life, things hasn’t even change for me. I’m a graduate of Kwara State University, today’s date marked it another year that i finished my B.SE from the school, but sincerely life has not really been fine with me, I can vividly tell you what it means to be poor, I knew that I have lots to do, not even for myself alone but to others. but life isn’t treating me fine, this is all that was running on my head, I remembered then when my father died in 1987 though it was a great loss to me and my family because he has been the bread winner of my family then, so the remaining members of the family are trusting on me been the first child to take proper responsibilities for my young once. But then when i got admission to Kwara State University, my mom was poor to send me to the University and i truly want to go to school, so i call her to explain things to her which we agreed, my sisters had to stop schools just for me to go to the University, now that I have graduated they’re expecting more from me, they want me to raise the family again but there I come, everything seems to be badluck for me, ever since my graduation I couldn’t go back home and the reasons was because i felt i could secure myself with a job here before going home so I won’t go empty handed, but now i seriously don’t have any choice than to go home, since i couldn’t secure a job here in the state so i planned to move back to Akwa ibom. The journey isn’t a short one but i need to go home and see my family and better still if I can get a job to do over there, so my sisters could go back to school again. I parked all my cloths, as i planned ahead for it, I get them arranged believing that i will be leaving earlier the next day, this is the third years after my graduation, I think it’s time to go home and plan for my life, I went to meet a friend at least to borrow me some money to go home which i promised to pay back after i get home. Thank goodness he gave me the money which made my preparation to be more fasten.
The following morning, i woke up earlier around 4 O’clock in the morning I took my bath as everything was fully ready. I got to the park around 5:30am. This time people were already seen around the market places, some are going to work while others are in hurry to get to their way. The bus left Kwara State around 8:45am in the morning, the money i got was for the transport fee, but thank goodness the money they charged was lower than my expectations which made me got an extra 500 Naira with me . The journey continues..
After about eight hours driving the driver make an announcement that we would soon be in Akwa ibom but then i have bought some snacks when we got to a bus stop where some passagers claim to ease their self, I bought myself a snack and a mineral this was what i ate till will get to akwa ibom , the bus stop at a junction where it seems everyone will be coming down. I groaned as i come down from the bus, the journey was stressful though but thank God we’re home, then i checked my pocket to notice that I only got three hundred and fifty naira with me, I sigh, does it even make sense for me to go home empty handed like this, I went to a bakery where they sell bread, give me one, I said to the seller which was sold for two hundred naira, at least , they will appreciate my coming because i never called to inform anyone about my coming not even our last born who called two days ago before now asking me for a recharge card, but I have been ignoring her call because i don’t have the money. I took a bike which took me home that evening. I got home around 6pm in the evening, I opened the gate to see one of my sister crying outside, she didn’t noticed that someone was inside the compound not until i called her name. Anita, she looked up to see me, I can’t believe she’s now a big girl now, despite the fact that her clothes was old but her figures were really sturning. Broda Stanley she shouted as she rushed to huge me. Seriously i have missed my family so much, the joy she had couldn’t be compared to anything , we gist and talk for a while before we both went inside the house. My mom was seen doing some necessity when she saw me, oh my kind is here o, she said in igbo language. She was extremely happy to see me , that evening was a day of joy for us, I noticed Amara wasn’t home and i haven’t even seen her, it almost 30 minutes that i got back, where is she i asked Anita who was busy searching my bag for what i brought for them, Iye(mama) sent her on an errand she managed to answer, this time mama was already outside trying to get me something to eat, so i was left with Anita, bro Stanley what do you brought for me o, she asked, I bought something for all of you i sad then i brought out the bread from the other bag that i carried, she was extremely happy to see it, Iye bro brought bread for us o this was what i heard her said as she left the room to go meet mama who was busy cooking in the kitchen.

?The Game I Played?
What’s wrong with you Anita, I shouted at her, you don’t talk to your Mom like that, fine I knew things isn’t fine, but with time, things will be fine. Have you forgotten that she gave birth to you, or is it because she couldn’t provide the breakfast food you are expecting i asked, don’t worry dear, things will be fine, now that I’m home i will make sure that you girls go back to school and all will be fine again, I moved closer to her for a hug. Anita was seen earlier this morning talking to Mom all because the breakfast food don’t seems to be getting ready anytime, though I have also went to meet mama to ask her why. But i was surprised when she told me she got no money to cook and her customers didn’t pay her debt, but Anita wouldn’t stop talking so i need to come in then. It was Saturday morning, the atmosphere from the village can’t be compared to the one in the city, all that was coming from the wind was the sound of birds and some dogs going for hunting. It’s past 12pm in the afternoon, my sister’s are yet to eat, what should i do, though I knew of a woman who sells food stuff down the street, but the problem is the fact that i don’t have money to buy, I went ahead to her shop. Good afternoon ma i said to a woman of her 60th, afternoon my dear she replied, I guess you wan buy something, what’s it she asked. Mama i wan buy garri o, but na tomorrow i go give you. I managed to tell her. Okay no wahala, just make sure say i no ask you for my money before you pay me o. She replied . I bought some food stuff from her which i promised to pay her back the following day . I took it home for mama who was just sitting waiting for magic and my sisters who weren’t on their good faces all because they were hungry. I came in with a poly bag that contains foodstuffs. They were all surprised to see it. I can see the joy from my sisters face, even mama as they all went to the kitchen to make Eba that afternoon. . .
Seriously i just have to be sincere with myself, I’m not happy seeing my family like this, but then i don’t have any choice than to atleast go out to search for a job, we’re four in total after my dad died in 1987. I myself and two of my sisters and mama makes us four in total. I went to meet a friend to discuss about getting job to support my family welfare, he promised to help me tell a friend about it or better still if he will be chance to go out together with me so we can both go out to search for a job in the city here in Akwa Ibom. The following day. It was on Sunday morning, mama and my sisters we’re seen planning for church, but seriously i don’t have any plan to go anywhere, mama has told me severally to go with her but i have been turning her down and the reasons was because of the woman i bought foodstuffs from, her shop is along the road, the only way that leads to church is to pass through the front of her shop, and since i don’t have money to pay now. So i decided not to meet her that day. they left for church around 7:30am in the morning. While i stay indoors, I have checked around to see the remaining eba that was made yesterday evening, that was what i ate in the morning till they came back from church. Seriously life has been so hard for me and my family.
The following day it was Monday morning, I took my bath as early as possible though a friend called to tell me of a new vacant position in one company close to village, so i planned to go there atleast to see if i can get a job there then things swill be fine again. I got there around 8:30am and the reason was because I don’t have transport fare, so i trekked to the place. I got there and I meet with the manager but they said they couldn’t accept me due to what i have and since they can’t afford to pay my salary, they’re looking for a SSCE holder. I tried explain to him that i don’t mind about the money that i will do the job, but he refused to give me the work, I felt sad, hearing this made me lost my appetite and energy , i never believed anyone would stop me from getting this job, I’m a B.SE holder for cried out loud I groaned. How can a secondary school certificate holder stop me. Well firstly i don’t blame him the manager, I will rather blame the government and the country itself, believed everything work for a reason, then i decided to go out to the city and search for any job, but all the company i went to weren’t really looking for anyone as at then. This was what really made me weak, the problem now is the fact that i don’t have money to go back home, I decided to trek home despite the fact that i have walked through the cities here in Akwa Ibom but i couldn’t find any job. I bought a pure water since i was tasty. Thank goodness it relieves me but I’m still a bit weak. I started trekking home when a sound of car got my attention, guess i must have been thinking for a while which makes me not to realize that a car was at my front. Stanley, a voice called. It was coming from someone inside the car, I moved closer to see the person calling , it was my long time friend. Emeka i screamed. We hugged ourselves for a while, how have you been bro, he asked, it a long story bro, before i could finish saying he cut me off don’t worry, now that you have seen me, everything will be fine. We drove home together that afternoon. After we got home, he met with my family they all greeted after proper introduction, but i noticed that Emeka has been staring at Anita ever since our arrival, but since i don’t want to be optimistic i don’t bother to say anything. I told him everything, how dad died in 1987, and how we have all been suffering to survived since then, he felt pity for me and my family which make him promised to help me, he asked me if i can follow him to Lagos so he can help me talk to one or two of his friends so they can help me secure a job, then things will be fine again. I was happy to hear that at least i can get a work to do. The following day we both left for Lagos.

?The Game I Played ?
We got to Lagos around 5:30pm in the evening, the house was cool and well tidy, do you stay alone here i asked him, yeah but sometimes i only comes home once in a week he answered. Anyway since I’m here i believe it’s going to be fine, at least if Emeka could build a house like this been an undergraduate person here in Lagos, I believe i can surpass him with what i got, this thought got me relieves . I have called mama that night to tell her that we have gotten to Lagos, though i remembered that Emeka gave Anita a sum of ten thousand naira been the elder sister to Amaka who was just sitting watching all that was happening that morning we left Akwa Ibom, The money was to help the family to feed on until i will be able to get get a work and then things will be fine again. Though he later gave Anita some money which he didn’t want anyone to know, but as a sharp guy i knew Emeka is up to something but I need to get a job first. The following day, it was on Wednesday. Emeka told me he will help me talk to his friends maybe then i will get a work to do but before he left that morning he gave me five thousand naira which he told me that i should have it with me in case i need anything, so i can go down the street and get it for myself, I was so happy to have the money, seriously i felt everything is fine now because i couldn’t remembered the last time i got money like this as a pocket money, I was happy to have it, he left earlier that morning. After an hour i felt like i should get myself something to eat or better still since i don’t know Lagos very well like that, i really would like to stroll around the streets and see what Lagos is build on and the atmosphere, the only thing we have always been hearing about Lagos was always good since we stay in the village, we believe Lagos is like a place of relief for those that dwell in the city, sometimes people we say that foreigners stays in Lagos and they comes out during the evening time to catch some fun, this was all that i have always been hearing about Lagos, and since it’s my first time of coming i felt i should stroll out there and see for myself. I took a shirt with a jean as i dress up , I remembered that I put my purse at the back of the jeans i wore. I started walking down the road, since i don’t have issues with anyone i kept on moving, people were also going to there various ways, I got to a junction where it seems they were selling foods ,I went inside the shop, the place was cool and lots of people were seen inside, some are eating while others are waiting for their food to be served, out of those guys waiting, I saw a guy sitting close to where i planned to sit but since i don’t know anybody I just passed besides him to where i later sat. One minute later a girl came to ask me what i will like to eat, I told him to serve me two eba with ugu soap with two meat. Alright sir, I heard her said before she left my place to go bring what i ordered for. The food was served after waiting for a while. I washed my hands as i beginning to eat, seriously food here in Lagos can be as delicious as the name it was called. After finishing eaten i called the same lady that brought the food to give her the money. How much is my money ,I asked her after she came to collect the money #500 sir she answered. I took my hand inside my back pocket to bring out my purse, then i realized that my purse wasn’t there again, I checked the second pocket but the purse was no where to be found. God what sort of wahala is this I groaned, how come i misplaced my purse here, then i remembered that the purse was with me when i entered here , I looked around the places, now starring at the floor to see maybe it fell down. This time the lady was already shouting at me, “Oga pay me my money, abi watin be this drama wey you they do” I looked at her in a way that means I’m coming, seriously the purse isn’t here, what’s is all this. After waiting for a while a woman of her 45th maybe came to meet me, guess the lady must have gone to report me to her, it seems she’s the owner of the shop. Hello Oga she called, where my money. I was about explaining to her when she locked my clothes, oh you think you can come here and eat my food without not paying ,today i will show you some lesson. Before i could decide on what to do, their they came in two guys, one could see how big one of their chest was, seriously i was afraid, I don’t know anyone here, they came to meet me, one of them ask me where is the money, before i could say anything, he gave me a hot slap, seriously it was as if darkness as covered the earth. They were about beating me further when the guy that was sitting alone stop them not to beat me again, how much is the money, I managed to speak #500 sir, he brought out #1000 and pay the money. Thank you sir, I said as i left the restaurant. God what sort of life is this, this was all that i was thinking when I heard a voice calling me from behind.
I have went as usual for my usual operation, but things don’t seems to be going fine that morning, everyone was busy with one thing or the other perhaps people don’t usually put money at the back of their pockets again, so it was a bit difficult to see anyone. I went to a restaurant where they sell Food, I noticed people were busy eating while others where waiting for their food, I sat on chair where nobody seems to be, one of the maid came to ask me what i want, but as a sharp guy i told him I’m waiting for a friend and when he’s here I will call her. She left immediately. After waiting for about 20 minutes , I saw a guy from the distance i noticed the purse, this one must be a JJC. I smiled. Thank goodness he was coming to eat as well, as a sharp guy, I brought out my phone as i begins to press, I was happy when he was coming towards my direction, before he could pass me by i have taken away the purse, but since i don’t want to give any form of traces i stay to witness what’s going to happen, I saw him ordered for eba and ugu soap which they later served him, while he was still eating, I have checked the purse to see #5000 inside, I also ordered for food which i later lied to the girl that my friend just called to tell me he can’t show up again, I paid for my money while i continue eating, i was still eating when i heard a voice, f--k this JJC don’t have money to pay, I have known iya wale olobe just like her nickname and her restaurant to be a rascal person, I knew how deep she can go to get her money, but as a sharp guy that I be, I pretend not to see then, some minutes later, some guys came in, they gave him a slap of his life, this time i felt pity for him, I paid for his money while he left. Then i went to cross him at the front.
hello oga. I called severally before he stopped, thank you for the other time sir he said, don’t worry i said, he explained everything to him how he left home with #5000 and how his purse got missed, don’t worry i understand i said. Guess you just come to Lagos, I asked him, just like i have guess right, well can i have your number i said which he gave me that morning before i went to other operation for that day.
