MY PERFECT MARRIAGE

Episode 1

Oh my God, it’s already 14hrs. We are running late.. Patience said as she hurried Philip.
Baby I’m coming I’m just getting my tie honey… Philip responded.
How do I look? He asked.
Aww you just look perfect honey.. now let’s go.
You’ve seriously made me late for couples seminar, honey… patience complained.
Philip leaned over and pecked her forehead.
Honey, you complain too much.. See that’s why I need you around. You bring sanity into my life… I love you honey… he said.
Ok let’s go we are running late…

Oh it’s our soon to wed couple.. I almost thought you won’t make it… coach Angela said.
No coach we were just held up a little.. Patience responded as they went in where marriage counselling has being taking place.
How are the marriage preparations going?.. asked Coach Angela
They are fine mum.. Thanks.. Philip responded.
Coach Angela looked at the time and then she stood up.
Ladies and gentlemen I think we can start now, the rest can join us later.. she said.
So today we are going to continue with yesterday’s topic…
There many reasons why people get married depending on which society you come from as well as your upbringing. People have many justifiable reasons to explain the reason they got married, you might wonder whether marriage should be debated. What is the purpose? The motive? or the main reason why people get married. Up till now I only know one reason and it comes from the bible. You see, the bible has many verses that refer to marriage but one that strikes me is Genesis 2:20 – 25.
20The man gave names to all the cattle, all the birds of the air and all the wild animals; but none but none proved to be the suitable partner for the man. 21So the Lord God cast a deep sleep on the man, and while he was asleep, he took out one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 The Lord God then built up into a woman the rib that he had taken from the man. 23The man said:This one at last is bone of my bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; This one shall be called woman, for out of man this one has been taken.24That is why a man leaves his father and mother and clings to his wife, and the two of them become one body.
So I guess this verse alone should answer why man and woman are joined together in matrimony. Well that isn’t the case in today’s world, people get married for loneliness, fame, money and the common one “because time is running out”.
Coach Angela went on explaining, until it was time up.
Well I will see you again in two days but Patience and Philip will not be joining us anymore as a group… their wedding is in two weeks so let’s wish them well and pray hard for them…
Patience and Philip greeted the rest of the couples before leaving.
Baby it’s been so worth it, I think we made a right decision coming here for the counselling, it’s really helped us grow dont you think? Patience asked.
That is true honey.. that is true…. Two weeks remaining how does that feel?
Am super excited but I keep trying to remind myself of what I have forgotten… she said.
Don’t panic all is under control.. I love you Mrs. Mena to be … he said with a smile…
I love you too honey… she responded.
They drove to the matrons house where they Were having their wedding rehearsals..

All was looking smooth and perfect, just perfect for the big day…
Girlfriend you need to try on the dresses beforehand.. Kassy said.
Oh yeah! you’re right.. I have to, thanks girlfriend what would I do without you… that’s why you are my chief bridesmaid….
So has Nonde finalized with my makeup artist?… I gave her that task....patience asked.
Well am not sure ask her.. Kassy responded.
Nonde!.. come here… patience called out.
The appointment is it settled?.. she asked.
Yes it is… nonde quickly replied.
Ok that’s great…. She said with a sigh of relief..
Don’t worry girlfriend.. we have your back… you really helped us we can’t let you down. Kassy said…
Awww thanks you guys…. You are life savers.. She said with a smile.
Now the only one left is Petrina and we are settled. We have come a long way girls…. Patience added.
She was right, the girls had been best friends from high school. They always played in a group of 4, they went to the same university and they graduated together.
Petrina graduated as a Social worker, Kassy as a lawyer, Nonde an Accountant and finally the Bride herself graduated with a distinction in economics. All the ladies were happily married starting with Kassy who got married two years after graduation, Nonde followed suit 6 months later the same year and now it was Patience's turn a year after Nonde's. Peterina was the single one in the group, she was not even dating at all.
You could say they all did well for themselves, they all got married to well-to-do men and Patience was just following suit. Philip was a partner in the Audit firm where he worked and he had a lot of achievements to his name.
Petrina was the more reserved one in the group but she was the happiest any time she is among her friends… she liked to laugh and smile a lot but she always brought sense to all of them. She was working out of town where she was posted by government, so she couldn’t be actively involved in the wedding preparations.
She had just managed to get a chance of transfer back to Lusaka but the time frame of her moving back would still not be sufficient enough for her to get actively involved in Patience's wedding preparations.
Nondes husband was a manager in an oil company while Kassy’s husband was a successful doctor.

It was time to go home after the rehearsals and Philip was still talking to the matron…
Honey I need to try on my wedding dress after the recent adjustments.. let’s go.. Patience said.
They said their goodbyes. Then Philip and Patience left for the bridal shop..
Philip remained in the car while she tried her dress.
I told you it would look great… the consultant said.
Awww I love it… I was almost having a nervous breakdown when the dress came in a completely different size from the one I ordered online.. she said.
As patience was fitting her dress Philip decided to take a walk in the bridal shop to check some suits for men. He already had his suit in place but was considering having a second one for the reception as he was positive Patience would have two dresses.
Hi! Can I help you sir.. a beautiful looking consultant said as she came closer to Philip.
You can try the suit if you like it. It’s a Pierre Cardin… the lovely consultant said.
Yea that’s right, let me try it on. It looks nice.. he said.
She removed the suit and showed him the changing room.
Philip tried it on and liked it.. He was so excited about it but did not want Patience to know that he was making a purchase so he called the consult aside.
Listen dear I like this suit and I want it but my wife to be is here and I don’t want her to know am buying something she will be too curious and force me to show her… so please put it aside for me but I will pay for it.. he said.
Oh that’s great, thanks for giving me sales today… she said with a smile.
Philip quickly paid for the suit and he got the receipt.
Patience walked out shortly..
baby are you done? He asked.
Oh yes honey I am. Shall we? She said with a smile.
They set off for home immediately.
After Philip dropped Patience at her home he quickly rushed back to the bridal shop but he found it closed.
He had collected the young lady’s number so he decided to called her.

Tisa looked at her phone and she immediately got excited and showed her friend..
The guy I told you about?.. She said as she jumped.
Hey I passed through the shop and found it closed I will come by tomorrow he said..
Oh ok sir.. you will find me.. she said in a small calm voice.
Tisa isn’t that man getting married? Why are you getting excited?... Maya asked.
Oh Maya please can’t I have some fun? Besides I didn’t say he is after me.. no!.. He is just a client that’s all.. and I like him.. that’s it.. she said.
Well I hope so, don’t ruin someone’s marriage before it even begins.. Maya warned.
Relax I am not showing him my crazy eastern moves… Tisa said as she went into a tormenting laughter.

When kassy got home after the rehearsals she went straight to prepare a delicious meal for her husband and then she quickly showered and dressed provocatively as she waited for him on the couch..
It was almost impossible for her husband to come early on Saturdays as he liked to club with friends, however she always did her best to be ready for him.
She was getting irritated as she looked at the time, the food was slowly starting to get cold.
She decided to call him but his phone went unanswered, she was so sad that she made this effort and he was still not available to appreciate it.
She had miscarried twice but this was still not changing her husband, instead of spending more time home so they could work on their marriage, he preferred to go out with the guys. To the outside world their marriage was perfect and very successful. That is the price she had to pay for wanting to be with Ted despite all the signs he showed her in their courtship. His fame and popularity was something she could not deny herself. He had the looks, the money and also the brains. She just had to swallow all the scandals that happened in their courtship until they walked down the aisle. He really did spoil her with the finest things in life.

Nonde on the hand did not go home after the rehearsals, she rushed to see an old lady that helped her bring sanity into her marriage. You could say she was very superstitious and she left nothing to chance…
Her husband Clive was engaged to another woman when she grabbed him away, she made every effort possible to make Clive love her and yes he eventually did.. Well for as long as she continued putting love portion in his food and she was also practicing the bathing technique of applying certain fetish liquids on her body. Clive’s ex fiancée had gone into serious depression after their breakup. Nonde on the other hand would care less as she was already pregnant before the wedding making it easy for her to capture Clive.

Patience was tired and she immediately fell asleep when she got home. She was woken up after midnight by the woman her mother hired to run her through the marriage process in traditional way.
She was irritated and called her mother aside who was chatting with her other aunties in the next room.
Mum I told you that this is against my belief as a Christian, I can’t start learning all that evil stuff you have planned out for me… she said.
Patience my daughter this is important for you, I do understand the route you and your husband want to take in your Christian faith but marriage is marriage honey. You will need these things.. her mother said.
No mum I said no the first time but you still went ahead and arranged another woman for me.. she said.
But she is a Christian baby…
I don’t care mum.. Christ is the keeper of marriages all that stuff is not necessary. What of white people how do they live for years?. Patience replied angrily.
Every human being belongs to a certain culture, this is your culture and unfortunately you can’t shun away from that..
Well I don’t think so mum… she responded rudely.
Mum I am going back there and I will tell her what I don’t want and what I want… you don’t get it mum. Philip and I love each other, we don’t need all these unnecessary things. Especially the chezela. I don’t want all that demonic stuff! She yelled.
Ok you win.. I'm tired of having these debates with you.. her mother said.
She quickly rushed to her room and called Philip, honey can you imagine mum was telling me about that evil stuff again?
Relax honey, I love you… he said.
I love you too me Mr. Mena.. she replied.
