Episode 6

Aisha looked at the time and wondered where her friend had gone to. She only told her she will be back before Asr and yet she hadn't come back home. Her number wasn't even going through.
"May Allah keep her safe. "Aisha prayed and went on to pack her clothes. They will be travelling back home for a semester break the following day. Her nikkah is in two weeks and she is so excited.
She heard a knock and eaved a sigh as she walked to opened the door, Halimah let herself in and Aisha closed the door and watched Halimah entered their room. She looked so tired and Aisha wondered where she has been since morning.
"I have to pray, " Halimah muttered to herself and went to perform Ablution. Aisha had finished parking by the time she finished and they sat down for dinner, the two girls ate silently each with her own thoughts.
After the food, Halimah cleaned up the dishes. She was about to go into the room to sleep when Aisha entered with her.
"Where have you been too since morning?" Aisha asked, Halimah sighed and sat down on the bed looking at her friend who was standing by the door.
"I travelled with Ade to meet his parents. " Halimah replied after a long silence from her.
"What? You travelled to meet his parents? " Aisha asked. She couldn't believe her friend can take such a step without letting her know.
"It was his idea, I wasn't aware of it until we were out of the state and besides it is just a four hours journey, he is planning come over to meet my father during the break." Halimah explained
"Halimah,..... I don't know what to say? What about the religious differences? Were his parents aware of it? What were their reaction? " Aisha asked and lowered herself to sit beside her friend.
" they were happy to see me. Ade had told them about me. " Halimah explained and looked at her friend who has disapproval on her face.
" Aisha, I love him so mulch, I have never had this type of feeling in my life. Ade is a very nice man. He and his family are okay with me being a Muslim. I have told them, I have no plan to change my religion to theirs. There isn't going to be any problem, Ins sha Allah. I did istikharah on this issue." Halimah explained to her friend.
"What can I say again. Hmmm but Halimah have you forgotten that Allah said in holy Quran
*Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 120:*
_وَلَن تَرْضَىٰ عَنكَ الْيَهُودُ وَلَا النَّصَارَىٰ حَتَّىٰ تَتَّبِعَ مِلَّتَهُمْ قُلْ إِنَّ هُدَى اللَّهِ هُوَ الْهُدَىٰ وَلَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ أَهْوَاءَهُم بَعْدَ الَّذِي جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ مَا لَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِن وَلِيٍّ وَلَا نَصِيرٍ_

*And the Jews will not be pleased with you, nor the Christians until you follow their religion. Say: Surely Allah's guidance, that is the (true) guidance. And if you follow their desires after the knowledge that has come to you, you shall have no guardian from Allah, nor any helper.*
With this verse I'm assuring you that is a misery love because Allah has said they can never be pleased with us until we follow their path and like your mind is made up but I pray may Allah show us the right path." Aisha said and say no more.

Halimah looked at her parents and wondered why they had invited her into their room. It is five days after her arrival from school and Ade just arrived kano an hour before and planned to see her parents the next day. She hoped Aisha had not tell them anything.
"Halimah, please seat, " her Dad said to her fondly and she obeyed, she sat on a sofa opposite her parents. She always pray for such joy and happiness that exist between the two couples that even after twenty five years of marriage, they still adore each other.
"So in a few months time, you will be through with your degree education. What is it that you want after this, marriage or further studies?" her dad asked her, he know how intelligent his daughter is and her plans of becoming a lecturer.
"Why can't she combine the two? Have you forgotten I was in my first year when we got married?" her mother said, she was just an eighteen years old girl at the time and now in her early forties, she never regretted her actions.
"Of course, she can but we have to know her plans first then we can give her our advise." her father said.
"I am okay with both. " she said and her father nodded.
"Did you know Alhaji Ahmed, my friend who stays in GRA?" her father asked and she nodded. Everyone know him. He is a very influential man.
"He want his son Abubakar to marry you. " her father pointed out and her heart missed a bit.
"Abubakar? " she asked with surprise.
"Yes, he is the only son of Alhaji Ahmed and he lives in United states, that is probably why you have never met. He do come home every year for Eid. He is a very responsible man with a very strong Islamic background and I very sure you will like each other." He explained and watched his daughter frowned and stared at the ground. He exchanged glance with his wife.
"Halimah, we are not forcing you to get married to him. We as a parents want nothing but your happiness and we feel we know a lot about Abubakar background which formed a strong personality of a person. " her mother explained.
"Or is there someone? " her father suddenly asked and she smiled.
"Yes and he is already in Kano to meet you. He is a yoruba and he is from Oyo state." Halimah explained and her father nodded.
"Ma sha Allah, let me meet the young man tomorrow then. " her father said and she nodded feeling excited.
